Training Programme on Accounting, Taxation and Insurance by Mukund Bakre held at Pune

A Report

Background:
The secretariat has the mandate to organize four training programmes in a year. This training programme was conducted based on the formal and informal interaction that secretariat staff had with the newly supported entrepreneurs. The newly supported entrepreneurs had expressed their needs regarding the accounts, Taxation and insurance matters and based on it the present training programme was conducted. Only newly supported entrepreneurs were invited to attend the training programmes.

AIM:

  • To train and guide the Entrepreneurs on Accounting, Taxation and Insurance.

OBJECTIVE:

  • To learn about Importance and procedure of Accounting, Taxation and Insurance for small businesses.
  • To learn about the various schemes/coverage of the Insurance policy under which the Entrepreneur could get his business ensured
  • To learn about life and non life insurance.
  • To provide assistance in mitigating their problems related to Accounting, Taxation and Insurance

Session I and Session II: Accounting and Taxation

Mr Mukund Bakre, Advocate and Tax Consultant conducted the training program on Basic Accounts Keeping . He gave a short introduction to basic accounting and then systematically explained the need for keeping accounts. He then explained the traditional way of keeping accounts, which entailed keeping only two books of accounts. He also stressed on the importance of keeping account of personal expenses. Many times when a person does not keep track of personal expenses he tends to lose track of his spending. In this session he covered following topics.

  1. Needs of Accounting.
  2. Types of Accounting.
  3. Way to maintain account on daily, monthly and the individual transactions basis. In this he explained about Cash Book, Ledger writing and maintenance.

In second session Mr. Bakre was conducted training on Taxation in this he gave a short introduction on taxation and explained following issues.

  1. Various types of Taxes.
  2. Obligations under various types of Taxes.

In this session he provided information on following Taxes:

  • Profession tax
  • Income tax
  • Sales tax
  • VAT
  • Excise duty
  • Service tax

During the questions answer session he was fielded a lot of questions on sales tax and service tax etc. that he explained to the entrepreneurs.

Session II: Insurance

Mr. Neelkant P. Phadke conducted training programme on Insurance, in his session he gave an introduction on Insurance and than covered following issues on insurance:

  1. Needs to do Insurance.
  2. Types of Insurance.
  3. Various companies involved in insurance venture.
  4. Various Insurance schemes.

The programme was very much appreciated by the entrepreneurs.
