| BYST was officially launched in 1992 by HRH Prince Charles and expanded
its operations to six major regions of India. Out of these six regions
four of them (Delhi, Chennai, Pune and Hyderabad) run the urban programme
while two regions run the rural programme (Rural Haryana and Rural
Maharashtra).

BYST started its operations in 1991 with the launch of its youth entrepreneurship
development programme from Delhi. The year 1991 was a crucial one as it
was the pilot phase of the programme. The programme was set up in the Confederation
of Indian Industry (CII) headquarters, which provided the infrastructure
and managerial support to the Trust. Presently BYST is operating in Delhi

Gradually BYST started making its presence felt in the field of youth entrepreneurship
development throughout the country. Soon the corporate sector started recognising
the work of BYST and the need for generating employment through entrepreneurship.
By the end of 1993 there was also a need to target the rural youth towards
enterprise development. With this objective BYST started its operations
in the villages of Rural Haryana in 1994. ESCORTS supported BYST in fulfilling
its agenda of developing dynamic micro-entrepreneurs in the villages. Presently
BYST is operational in 90 villages spread over 100 km. The project area
is divided into 4 clusters having around 20 villages per cluster, Seekri,
Tigaon, Jasana and Fathepur.

Soon the concept of entrepreneurship development began taking roots. The
business community both nationally and internationally started realising
that entrepreneurship development is the key to tackle the global unemployment
problem. This necessitated a partnership between non -governmental organisations
and the corporate sector. In the midst of this scenario BYST was approached
by DIAGEO, a multinational, to launch a youth entrepreneurship development
programme in Pune (Western India) in 1994. CII, which was already a support
partner to BYST in Delhi and Chennai, came forward to provide the infrastructure
and managerial support. Presently BYST - Pune is operating from:

After the success of four regional programmes BYST was well recognised as
a developing country model for the development of youth entrepreneurship.
Even the financial institutions endorsed such a model. Another milestone
was reached when American Insurance Group (AIG), one of the leading multinational
banks came forward to lend support to BYST's programme in Hyderabad. The
programme similar to Delhi, Chennai and Pune was launched in 1998. CII,
Hyderabad provided the infrastructure and managerial support. Presently
